Decoupling and friendshoring have become the mantra of the West in response to the shifting economic and political trends. These terms and their implications, reducing trade with certain nations while favoring others, threaten a return to Cold War dynamics where two divisions of an otherwise united world stand against each other. For those countries not wishing to cut off half the world, connectivity provides an answer, as the economic, societal and educational integration of the different corners of the world could be the most sensible way to maintain global peace and prosperity for all.
