The Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates (DOSZ)

The DOSZ welcomes those interested by presenting the possibilities of the scientific career and researchers and describing the activities of the association.

DOSZ has been advocating the interests of doctoral students in Hungary in various higher education, political and social forums since 1994. The Association participates in the work of the Higher Education Round Table, the MRK (Hungarian Rectors' Conference), the MAB (Hungarian Accreditation Committee) and the ODT (Hungarian Doctoral Council), among others. It maintains active relations with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, higher education trade unions, the HÖOK (National Conference of Student Unions), members of the Hungarian Doctoral Community and with higher education institutions, research institutes and other organisations in Hungary and abroad.

In 2013, we embarked on setting up a system of scientific departments. In these departments, doctoral students from Hungary and abroad can work together according to their disciplines and fields for their mutual success and that of the organisation. Today, DOSZ has 20 scientific departments with around 500 young researchers at the service of society and science. Members of these departments can take part in joint scientific and professional events, research and networking activities within a very active, young and ambitious community.

DOSZ also plays a major role in research management. For almost two decades, we have been organising an international scientific conference for young Hungarian researchers called the Spring Winds. DOSZ attaches particular importance to those starting doctoral studies. The annual DOSZFEST Free University gives them the opportunity to get to know the organisation, the potentilas and the mazes of doctoral studies, and become aware of their rights and obligations, which are also facilitated by our Legal Aid Service.

The mission of DOSZ is to be a socially embedded organisation that opens up opportunities for doctoral students, supports their work and help create a consciously built community. To this end, we invite all doctoral students to join DOSZ, so that together we can keep building the future of the organisation, the motto of which expresses its essence: "A community for science".
