From 1997 to 2016, Ákos Vágner worked at the Chamber of Agriculture, climbing the ranks and holding multiple positions. He started as a clerk, then worked as a business director, secretary of Heves County, director of Heves County, and finally as the national service director. Since 2014, he has been a primary producer, entrepreneur, and manager of a 30-hectare family farm. Since 2017, he has been the owner/managing director of Alfa Agricultural Consulting Office, which has secured nearly 20 billion forints in development funds for local economic and agricultural actors in recent years, thus promoting the development of the Eger region. On June 9, 2024, he won the Eger municipal elections, and from October 2024, he became the elected mayor of Eger, a city with county rights.He earned his agricultural engineering degree in 1997 from the Faculty of Agriculture in Mezőtúr of the Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, and in 2001, he graduated as a certified economic agricultural engineer from Szent István University in Gödöllő. In 2022, he received his precision agriculture engineer qualification from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
