Bálint Szentgyörgyi gained widespread recognition for the series "Besúgó," which premiered in 2022, and for which he was the writer, director, and creator.
In terms of Hungarian viewership, "Besúgó" outperformed "Game of Thrones," "Friends," "Euphoria," "Batman," "The Handmaid's Tale," "The Big Bang Theory," and "The White Lotus." The series quickly gained an international audience in 61 countries, including the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean and has been dubbed in English, Spanish, Czech, and Polish.
In 2023, the "Highlights of Hungary" audience vote selected "Besúgó" as one of the year's most outstanding Hungarian achievements. At the 2023 Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, the series won the Series of the Year award.
After his sucess with "Besúgó", Bálint Szentgyörgyi entered the international market and filmed two American series, which will be released soon. His first international production will be "Band of Spies", which takes viewers through the 1972 Munich Olympics terror attack and the subsequent Israeli retaliation. Szentgyörgyi's second American release will be the medieval adventure series "King and Conqueror," which depicts the rivalry between William the Conqueror and Harold of Wessex for the English throne. The show will star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ("Game of Thrones"), Clémence Poésy ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"), Oliver Masucci ("Dark"), and Jean-Marc Barr ("The Big Blue"). The producers are Baltasar Kormákur ("Everest") and Robert Jones ("The Usual Suspects").
