Born in 1982 in Mór, Attila Steiner completed his secondary education at the high school in Pannonhalma and Meschede (Germany) before earning a degree in economics from Corvinus University in 2007.

In 2010, he continued his career as a political advisor in Brussels at the European Parliament. He furthered his studies with a specialization in energy regulation at the Florence School of Regulation in 2013-2014 and attended a security policy seminar at the German Federal Academy for Security Policy in 2015. After returning from Brussels, he applied his experience by serving as Deputy Head of Department and political advisor at the Prime Minister's Office from 2014 to 2018. From 2015 to 2018, he was a supervisory board member and later a board member of Paks II Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. until July 2019.

In 2018, he was appointed Deputy State Secretary for European Union Relations at the Prime Minister's Office, and from July 2019, he served as State Secretary for European Union Affairs at the Ministry of Justice.

From 2021, he was the State Secretary for the Development of Circular Economy, Energy, and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. Since 2022, he has been the State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Technology and Industry, and subsequently at the Ministry of Energy.
