Margit Schmöltz was born in 1972 in Esztergom, where she still resides today. She writes novels, short stories, and tales. She is the director of the Helischer József City Library in Esztergom. She grew up in Székesfehérvár and earned her degree as an information librarian from the University of Debrecen and a cultural manager degree from ELTE. Previously, she published works focused on the history of science and popular science. As a novelist, she is intrigued by the questions of female existence and the peculiarities of medical history. Her works adhere to historical accuracy while weaving storylines with a fairy-tale quality. She focuses on the subtle nuances of everyday life, the faith, struggles, and illnesses of ordinary people. Her writings are multi-layered. As a world-building writer, her characters and certain threads reappear in multiple works. Her youth novel, "Kék imágó" (Blue Imago), received a special award in the "Regényes természet" (Picturesque Nature) competition and was later shortlisted among the top 10 finalists for the Merítés Prize. As a co-author of the novel "Buda & Pest," she won the Book of the Year award in 2023.
