Sándor Gallai is the Head of the MCC School of Social Sciences and History. He holds a degree in Economics from the Budapest University of Economics and a PhD in Political Science from its Doctoral School of International Relations. He studied for ten months at the Department of Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen on a Tempus scholarship. As a researcher, he spent six months in Leuven, one month in Oslo, and three months in both Bergen and Glasgow.
Sándor Gallai has been teaching at Corvinus University for over two decades, focusing on comparative politics, political systems and transitions in Eastern and Central Europe, and public policy and governance in both Hungarian and English language programs. He served the university in various departmental, institute, and faculty leadership positions for fifteen years. His publications include two individual and one co-authored monograph, an edited textbook, and numerous book chapters and journal articles, primarily in Hungarian and some in English.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Sándor Gallai has extensive experience as a political-economic analyst at the Australian Embassy, head of policy analysis at Budapest Economics/DZ BANK CEE Research, head of governmental think tanks such as the Institute for Public Policy Research and the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and scientific director and later director of the Migration Research Institute.
