Dr. Sándor Sáfár was born in Salgótarján in 1984, where he also completed his secondary education. He was a junior national team long jumper for nearly five years. He graduated with excellent results from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Semmelweis University in 2007, majoring in physical education and recreation. A year later, he also graduated with honors as a sports manager. During his studies, he was three times awarded the "Good Student, Good Athlete" title by the university and the Republic of Hungary and received numerous awards in both sports and academia. He won multiple times at the university and the National Scientific Students' Associations Conference (OTDK) held at the Faculty of Sports Sciences. In 2007, he was awarded the "Pro Scientia" gold medal, the highest student scientific recognition. In 2014, he earned his PhD with summa cum laude honors in neuro-biomechanics research.

Since 2011, he has worked in football, serving as the national coach for UEFA/FIFA referees. Since 2015, he has been the head of the strength training course for the Hungarian Football Federation. He is the strength coach and sports science expert for the junior national teams. From 2020, he has been the ministerial commissioner responsible for state-recognized sports academies, and since 2022, he has been the director of the National Sports Agency Nonprofit Ltd. He is also an associate professor at the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.

Dr. Sáfár is the author of numerous professional sports textbooks and publications, a speaker at scientific and sport-specific conferences, and an active member of the scientific sports community.
