István was born in Tiszakeresztúr, a border village in Transcarpathia. He earned his university degree at the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Transcarpathian Hungarian College in Berehove, where he was an active member of the student government during his university years.

From 2010, he worked as a biology and geography teacher at Tiszakeresztúr Primary School and the Karácsfalva Greek Catholic Lyceum. His students achieved notable results in numerous prestigious competitions, and thanks to the lyceum's students, he was awarded the "Teacher of the Year" title in 2014.

István's public career began in 2010 when he was elected as a local councilor in his hometown. Three years later, he served as the local president of the KMKSZ, where he was responsible for community advocacy. In 2015, at just 26 years old, he took on a leadership role as the mayor of Tiszakeresztúr and Karácsfalva, focusing on the development of the area and community building. In the same year, he revitalized the KMKSZ Youth Organization, which grew to become the largest youth organization in the region.

He is also known for founding the Transcarpathian Public Life Academy in 2018, which aims to provide public life training for young people. This initiative now operates as the Transcarpathian Public Leadership Training under the care of the MCC. Notable events he has organized include the ISZ Fest and mass events in Berehove, such as the Ákos and Ismerős Arcok concerts, which are significant cultural events for the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia.

István is actively involved in charitable and environmental initiatives. He initiated the "Clean Transcarpathia" movement and regularly organizes collections and events to support those in need.

In addition to his work, István is a dedicated family man and husband, tirelessly working to preserve Hungarian culture and values within the Transcarpathian Hungarian community.

In 2019, he received the Civil Protector Award from the Civil Cooperation Foundation (CÖF) and the Civil Cooperation Public Benefit Foundation (CÖKA). In 2023, he was honored with the Hungarian National Identity Award.
